Working With Indigenous Clients

As future conflict resolution professionals, students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the cultural and historical contexts of Indigenous peoples in Canada, with a focus on working effectively with Indigenous clients. Students will recognize the significant impacts of colonization, residential schools, and ongoing systemic discrimination on Indigenous peoples and their communities; and comprehend Indigenous approaches to conflict and peace making. Through practical exercises and critical self- reflection students will develop cultural sensitivity, an awareness of their role in reconciliation, and apply their learning to build respectful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous clients.
