Procurement and Supply Management is intended as an introduction to the field of purchasing and supply chain management. The field of purchasing has evolved from narrowly defined activity into a professional supply chain management function driven by people and technology. This course establishes an understanding of the purchasing function’s contributions to profitability and includes the following areas of study: the strategic alignment of supply management, make or buy decision, tools and techniques to sustain cost saving in supply chain, technology in procurement and in supply management, risk management, negotiation skills and supplier selection and evaluation. The course concludes with providing insight about the legal aspects of procurement as well as ethics and social responsibility of supply chain.
